Early season whitetail swamps
The archery season just underway in Minnesota. Since he had been bear hunting through first day of deer season again, I was anxious to get on the podium. My second night out, September 21 was a good night cold westerly winds. With all the acorns of oak covered the floor, along with cool temperatures, I went to one of my favorite places standing on the edge of a swamp.
About forty-five minutes after getting settled in the stand I heard something moving through the six foot tall grass about fifty yards from me. Concerned seconds, a beautiful chocolate accumulated money out of the swamp and began making its way to me. I was at full draw on its way through the ten meters and I saw him accumulate only thirty feet from where the trick spot opened. As I sat there trying to absorb what had just happened could not believe that only a few hours the new season I had a boxer on the ground. I gathered my things, down the trunk, and walked to the edge of the oak wood floor where the ball was. It was a beautiful male four or five years with an enormous mass, tooth height, and completed a weight of 250 pounds and scored 140. "
Hunting marshes in the early season, obviously, can produce great results, especially when hot food sources nearby. With warmer temperatures, bed mature males in these places to cool and then give way to oaks to feed at night. In this particular situation, created by a path leading out of the swamp and oak floor in the north. Because it was still a couple of hours before dark, the ball decided to have a meal of acorn in an area that was still close to his sanctuary, and where felt safe during the day.
Many hunters are focusing much of their early season in the hunting field crops, which are excellent choices, but do not enter ignore the white-tailed deer love acorns white. This particular money, could have decided to feed in the fields to the south, and more than likely would have after it was dark. If you are lucky to have the marshes and swamps that surround a group of mast trees, this has all the makings of an ambush of principle Season well. Often these places the edge of the swamp may be easily accessible without disturbing the deer can be difficult to do when you are looking for edges the field. Usually, after dark, the deer have made their way to the fields and can slip out of your stand undetected. I've seen a lot of dollars well during the early pre game routine of wetlands, at a time that hunters tend to see fewer dollars in the whole season. One thing to keep in mind is no more hunting of these places and always chasing the wind suitable for installation. Usually, these spots are good places to choose from cruise dollars during the rut, so you want to hunt with moderation.
As the new season approaches, take a look to see if you might be overlooking some large swamps to hunt and you can be marked ahead of time.
