And I mean the game with rifles or bows. It is a big deal where I live – stickers here say "Vegetarian: old Indian word for bad hunter." People come from all over the world to hunt here.
I DO hunt. I hunt for food and for sport. I love being in the woods with my rifle. Sometimes I sit and dream. Sometimes I shoot a deer and I understand. Also hunting upland birds. Grouse is delicious. There's nothing like going outside in the fresh air and autumn tracking the elusive ball ever. Opening day of deer season is almost a holiday here. I do not travel as far as I have a 45 + / – acres of my own to hunt en. The time hunting as a sport is for the bear, I do not eat bear meat (very spicy for me, but I make a donation to Hunters for the Hungry). I have 3 bears and I have 3 bearskin rug in my house. Bears are different for hunting, smell before you see them. I have a bow in the spring and plan to do some turkey hunting with it. And, the State Maine has allowed hunting with a crossbow, so I'll consider that. I've always wanted to shoot a crossbow!
