You know the truth about hunting
As a hunter, is essential to know the facts about the game so that when approached by a non-hunter and asked on or even facing the sport that you can respond intelligently. Hunters are the most dedicated conservationists on the ground. We as hunters to protect ALL the animals game animals and non-game animals and the habitats where they live. We do this both for our enjoyment and the enjoyment of non-hunters also. So is as accomplished.
Most game animals are at or near the carrying capacity of their environment. Carrying capacity means the number of animals an area of land can support throughout the year without damaging the land or starve / stressing the animals. Farmers have known for eons that each animal requires a certain amount of air, food, water, shelter and space to maintain a suitable habitat. Providing a suitable habitat healthy animals as a result. When too many animals to share the resources or the resources to support the result was sick animals, disease and hunger. Through various organizations, each responsible for regulating of the crop in their respective areas, hunters become a vital tool in maintaining healthy herds of wild game. The hunters willingly share and gladly vital information of these organisms on the hunt. This information helps these agencies continually adjust their policies to keep animals healthy and in adequate capacity to provide healthy habitats for all species.
A pair of healthy living white-tailed deer in a habitat free of the disease, predation, hunting or unusual deaths occur over a herd of 40 deer in 7 years. Imagine you have a home garden that fed you and your wife has a few children who have few children and the next thing you know the garden to feed 40. In nature this happens and some of the descendants march elsewhere, but when the soil becomes saturated with these deer, they begin to die of diseases that deer do not readily attack healthy, but not usually affect a healthy animal. The famine due to competition in the limited available food is a long slow death agony. game hunters harvest in a way that is quick to animal and in the case of bow hunting studies have shown that animals may experience no more than the discomfort of a bee sting before losing consciousness and expiring over time. The animal is then used by the hunter and removed from the field.
Hunters contribute more to wildlife than any other group and make it through licensing and permits. Millions of dollars are collected annually from hunters by the various agencies that deal with the task of maintaining healthy habitats in their jurisdictions. These dollars benefit both non-game animals and game, and go directly to the conservation of wildlife for everyone to enjoy. The Pittman-Robertson Act of 1937 created a special tax on all weapons, ammunition, archery and equipment manufactured in the Untied States. Was collected and distributed to the wildlife agencies for use in wildlife management and hunter education programs. Each of the hunters when purchasing new equipment for the hobby they love, a part of that purchase will retain a quality habitat in which to enjoy this sport. This benefits the hunter and the hunter.
It is up to each hunter to invest negativity placed on sport hunting and be prepared to intelligently defend the honor of the sport to be knowledgeable in every aspect of hunting. Hunters should remember whenever we are in the spotlight and our actions and our language speak volumes to those who are ignorant of the truth about hunting. Knowledge is power but powerless if not used correctly.
Happy hunting!
