bow parts archery

In my Life time Sports (p.e.) class we spent a quick unit on Archery, and i really have a nack for it!! so anyway, i really don’t know that much about the sport, i went on youtube and watched some of the 2006 olympics! I really enjoyed watching it! haha… maybe i am strange, but i have never been really good at many sports, from iceskating to ballet to Basketball…. (and many more) nothing ever really worked for me!! so i was just wanting to look more into this sport! i am about to go search some more on about it on the interenet, and look into so archery clubes in my community. But if you have any other information about it i would really love to hear!!
Thanks!
Ps. even info. about the bow parts and stuff! i am interested!!

It sounds like you are interested in target or 3-D shooting and not hunting right? Either way I would join a club and as soon as you do that you will learn a wealth of knowledge. Others in the club will be glad to help you in all aspects of the sport. Target bows can be seriously customized as well. If you are a girl’s girl then Hoyt even makes bows in Pink! You will need to decide if you will shoot the new high tech compound bows or a classic recurve or long bow. As far as parts of the bow goes: there is a riser which is the long part of the bow you hold onto and attach all the accessories to, the limbs are the parts on both ends of the bow that bend when you draw it back to give the arrow its speed, the cams are the round modules at the ends of the limbs that hold an move the string, there is a sight you put on the riser, an arrow rest that holds your arrow when shooting, a stabilizer that attaches to the riser that sticks out the front of the bow and helps you balance, and then there are a few other small things you can do if you were ever interested in making your bow quieter. You will also ned to decide if you will use a release aid to hold and shoot or if you will just use your fingers. People in the archery clubs would be glad to help you decide that as well. I would go to my local Archery Shop and talk to the people there and tell them exactly what you are planning to do, shoot for fun, and ask for their advice as well. Have patience too, archery takes a while to get good at and can be frustrating at times. But if you love it now you will have a blast once you really get into it. Good luck and I hope this helps!
