The sport of Airsoft vs. The Sport of Paintball Part II
In the last article of the sport of Airsoft vs. the sport of paintball, was established in main differences between the two sports are the real weapons, and not necessarily the cost. Now I would like to return to the conditions of each sport and what they imply.
Recently I have seen more and more professional Paintball games being played and broadcast on television. I can see the teams compete and the strategy they import to the fields game. No offense towards these Paintball teams, I have to say I do not see popular strategy, especially in "Speedball."
It always seems to be reduced to the same and the same strategy to all teams. Get your sprinters to get around, making sure that the first line out as field players again shoot as much and as fast as they can. Now, I know most people think that this is the strategy, but in my experience any Joe blow that can move the index and middle finger fast enough can get into the sport.
When I started participating in Paintball games I had a rental gun that was not so accurate or effective over long distances. I remember one man in the other team had a big barrel with a double tap trigger and stood in the very back of the range tonnes of paint to our team. I understand that he was using the only strategy that could not work, but to me that contradicts the game.
In this case no sport involved, it has everything to do with the team. I could only imagine if there were five other people standing back there doing the same. How fun would that be?
This is the strategy involved in Airsoft, or a better strategy that involves more than just equipment? I make a note that better team definitely optimize their sports experience, but I do not think a sport should solely rely on having the best team. Making fun of the game and sooner or later it out strategy too.
Personally I'd much rather be holding a sniper rifle with a scope long range, support my team from a high level several hundred yards behind them and make sure that every move is safe. Or published in the flank while skirmishing through a thick set of woods holding a fully automatic M16 machine gun, backed up with a 9milimeeter tied to my ankle incase I needed for some combat.
Game can be carried out in an open field with no barriers or a field of 100 yards with trees, shrubs and bushes. This all happens while talking on the radio, knowing that each place my team is in. This makes for some extreme planning and strategy, not to mention some extreme fun.
So what sport is emerging and what sport is becoming the "war against the team" rather than a sport? When it comes to sports compared Airsoft the sport of paintball would have to choose Airsoft, and not only for the costs or cleaning, but simply because the actual characteristics and adventures in question. From weapons to gambling makes more sense to have fun in a realistic game of warfare without the death.
In any case, when it comes to sport, I would say that the trace on the ground under brush or posting yourself 35 feet into the air, dressed in camouflage sniping people from an elevated position is more sport than standing in the back of a golf shot loading and loading and firing as fast as possible. In other words, I think it is clear that the sport is actually emerging and, sadly, that race is the team at its output.
