G5 Striker Broadhead: Carbon Steel Construction Which Provides Excellent Durability

The new G5 Striker Broadhead is an improvement on an already excellent product, from a company that has been making excellent broadheads for a while now. It boasts a 100% carbon steel construction which provides excellent durability. It has a fixed-blade design that utilizes the ANIX blade-locking system that provides 45 degrees of locking power on each blade. This ensures that the broadhead stays intact even with devastating impacts. The blades are incredibly sharp, and better yet they are very easy to replace. They have a thickness of 0.030″ with a cutting diameter of one and an eighth inches.

The Montecs also come in a different version, a one-piece carbon steel construction. This one-piece design also uses the carbon steel and comes out of the box 25% sharper than it predecessors. The cutting diameter is a little smaller at 1 1/16″. One design feature that you will notice is that not only do they come sharper but they are now easier to sharpen once they have become dull.

There is also a Pre-Season practice tip available from Montec that will give you identical weight and flight to the hunting version. Using these you would not even notice the difference when shooting except for a few things. Number one, they have a darker grey color that will help you tell them apart from the regular blades. Second, you will notice that your practice targets last a lot longer. The hunting blades are made to tear up the target and they are certainly effective in doing just that. The practice tips come in a 125 grain version.

There are things that you can control when you are hunting and there are things that you cannot control. The behavior of the target animal, the wind and weather conditions are things that you really cannot change. When it comes to your equipment however, you have the ability to give yourself the best chance of keeping luck on your side. You have to be good to be lucky, and having accurate flight from your bow might be the most important factor out there. There is more to it than just the broadheads, you have to keep your bow properly tuned and you need it to be a quality piece of equipment to start with. In terms of bang for the buck however, your broadheads will likely give you that additional edge for your dollar more than anything else.

On top of getting your bow in tune, you can also do a few things that will help the performance of your arrows. When you first use the broadheads, realize that the broadheads do not necessarily always line up right with an arrow. Try moving them around to find what works best. Get the broadheads to line up with the feathers and you will also experience truer flight. Play around with different broadheads and you will find something that works really well for you. Having good equipment is important, but you need to use it in the best way as well. That way you will get the most out of it.
